Welcome to
Susan B Taylor's world...
she likes to sing!
“…and sing
she does. Whew! This lady can flat belt em’ out in her own style as well as Joplin or
Aretha Franklin and is one of the most talented lady vocalists around. To miss
her show is your own misfortune…”
Bill Moore,
Freelance Writer, Dallas/Fort Worth, TX
“…her voice is like smokey
velvet.”
Larry Randall, Saxman
Productions, Irving, TX
"Vivacious, congenial, and
charismatic" are adjectives frequently used to describe this newcomer to
the recording industry, however, Susan B Taylor is no newcomer to the music
industry! In the 80's, she toured extensively in the US with her own
bands: "Amazonn" and "Taylor Made." She toured and
recorded with the show band, "Custom Made" (a Coors Light sponsored
band) in 1992. From 1990 to present, the soulful and bluesy Susan
B Taylor was heard (and still can be seen from time to time) with "The Forever Fabulous Chickenhawks and All Star Revue."
The 'Hawks' provided Susan the opportunity to sing with Blood Sweat &
Tears' great Jerry Fisher, and to share the stage in August 2003 at Antone's
(Austin, TX) with Luther Kent of New Orleans
fame!
Susan is not only a natural performer, she
is also a good songwriter and started writing both music and lyrics at age
seventeen. Her first professional step at nineteen (while attending
Kansas State University) was
performing original material at coffee shops as a solo guitarist, pianist,
singer, songwriter. Susan's mother remembers her singing and playing piano by ear
at age four; then picked up guitar at about age ten. "Susan B's"
first memories are of singing Folk Songs and Negro Spirituals (hear sound clip
of "Motherless Child" below from the "Mother at War" CD);
however, her father, a vocal inspiration, loved the Big Band sound.
Consequently, Susan B Taylor's unique "jazzy...soulful...bluesy...rockish" vocal style was born!

Susan B Taylor...
Memories
Linger
One playing of “Memories
Linger” and the listener will know this singer/songwriter feels
comfortable in any musical setting. “Memories Linger” is a
compilation of compositions chosen to show Susan B’s diverse loves for
soul, blues, jazz, and rock…which forms an interesting new sound!
An amusing analogy of her different influences is shown in the
songs, “I Wish It Wasn’t Over” and the title track, “Memories
Linger.” An inquisitive
audience will question both songs being written by the same songwriter.

Susan B Taylor...
Mother
At War
This special four-song project was produced and
recorded to depict grief issues shared by mothers (and/or parents) around
the globe who have children in harm’s way because of war. “A
Confident Man” was written for her son who received orders to be
deployed into Operation Iraqi Freedom. “Yesterday’s
Tomorrow” was written and produced by Ms. Taylor to reflect grief recovery.
Her interpretation and arrangement of the Negro Spiritual, “Motherless Child”
conveys the grief of a mother who perhaps lost her child in war. “Leaders
of the Earth” was written from imagined eyes of an alien, or spirit,
looking down at the earth in disappointment

Susan B Taylor...
In The Studio
An
upcoming release (due out April/May 2004) contains many of Susan's
favorite jazz standards, but also features three original songs:
"Lost Without You," "The Island Song," and
"Runnin' Blind." Susan
is singing with less rock inflections on this project, but still injects
intense passion when you least expect it!
